Hope Township operates two cemeteries, CEDAR CREEK AND BRUSH RIDGE.
CEDAR CREEK Cemetery is located on Cedar Creek Road in the Southeast section of the Township between West Dowling Road and Drake Road. Currently there are the Original and 3 additional sections that are in use both for sales and current owner burials. The recently cleared 4th additional is not yet ready for sales. The rock garden was the Eagle Scout project of resident Ben Strick and the pavilion and benches were the Eagle Scout project of Chad Cook and both materials paid for by the Township.
BRUSH RIDGE Cemetery is located on Wilkins Road in the Northwest section of the Township between Peake Road and Head Lake Road. Currently there are the Original and 3 additional sections that are in use, both for sales and current owner burials. The Township recently purchased an additional section, yet to be cleared, for future grave sites. The rock garden was a project of Brad and Mary Conklin and materials paid for by the Township.
The sign at the corner of Wilkins and Peake Roads was a Eagle Scout project of resident Adam Kingsbury and materials paid for by the Township.
LOT SALES: Burial spaces are sold by the Township Clerk. Spaces are sold by the single grave space or in lots of four spaces. By Ordinance, residents are allowed to purchase two (2) lots or eight (8) grave spaces. Purchases in excess of 8 grave spaces per household shall be reviewed upon a petition of the purchaser to the Township Board at a regularly scheduled Township Board Meeting.
PAYMENT: Lots must be paid for on date of purchase. Methods of payment accepted are cash or check payable to Hope Township.
Cemetery Rates (Effective 2007 to Present) No animal burials are allowed.
Hope Township Taxpayers:
-$35.00 per grave space.
-$140.00 per lot of 4 grave spaces.
Resident-Non Taxpayer:
-$150.00 per grave space
Non Resident-Non Taxpayer:
-$600.00 per grave space
Allowable uses:
A maximum of 4 Cremations is allowed in one grave space.
A maximum of 1 burial and 1 Cremations are allowed in one grave space.
No burial is allowed if a Cremation is already present.
Open/Close Fees (Effective 2003 to Present)
-$450.00 for adults
-$175.00 for baby/youth
-$150.00 Cremations/$200 with Vault
Additional Rules: Hope Township Ordinance states that Cemetery Lots/grave spaces purchased shall be sold back to the Township only and not sold by the owner to another party.
You must request, in writing, your wish to sell back the lots/spaces.
You may designate, who is to be buried in the grave spaces you purchase, with the Township Clerk.
