Building and electrical permits are issued by they Building Official, who performs building inspections. Electrical inspections are conducted by Michael Huffman (269-623-5474).

Before starting any construction, including decks, accessory buildings of any size, pole barns, agricultural buildings, additions, fences, etc., the following permits may be required:
1. Zoning compliance permit issued by the Township Zoning Administrator or Building Official.
2. Plumbing and mechanical permits issued and inspected by Professional Code Insections (PCI) (269-948-4088), 110 S. Center St, Hastings, 49058.
3. Soil & erosion permit issued by Barry County Planning Office (269-945-1290). Courthouse, Hastings (required for planned earth change which disturbs 1 or more acres, or any excavation within 500 feet of a lake, stream, or designated wetland.
4. Well & septic permit obtained from the Barry-Eaton Health Department (269-945-9516), 330 N. M-43 Hwy, Hastings, for new dwellings, additions, garages, decks, barns, etc.
5. Driveway permit from Barry County Road Commission (269-945-3449), 1725 W M-43 Hwy, Hastings, required before building permit can be issued for a new dwelling.
